2 Ways You Can Make a Denim Choker

With the chokers rising popularity last year, we got to see many different variations to the point where it pushes ones creativity in fashion. And out of all the chokers Ive seen, my favorite will have to be denim. Its edgy and really stood out from the rest, whats more is you can make this yourself .

Heres 2 styles you can diy out of denims in just 10 minutes or less

DIY Denim Choker Style 1

What you need:

• pieces of denim fabric
• thread and needle
• scissors
• clear nail polish
• hook and eye
• ruler and marker

1. Measure the length of the choker by wrapping your neck with a tape measure (at least a finger or two should slip in so its not too tight). For the how thick it will be its up to you be sure to add allowance, mine is as thick as my ruler.

2. Next, lay your denim flat and start tracing your choker. Make the flat felled seams (the thick seam of the jeans) the center, that will be our statement piece.

Tip: Add a little allowance for the width since we will be fraying the fabric later and that will make the fabric shorter

3. Once your satisfied with the pattern cut them up;

4. And for the fun part, distress the denim by pulling the edges and shaving some parts with a razor. The more ripped, the better.

5. Sewing Hack: To stop the edges from running, instead of burning or sewing it. Why not use a nail polish to seal them, its easy and takes less time

6. Most of the diys Ive seen all used ribbon clamps which is cute and give the choker a professional feel. But those are not available in my area and im broke, so a good hook and eye is the way to go. Just sew this on both ends and your done.

DIY Denim Choker Style 2

What you need:

• pieces of denim fabric
• thread and needle
• scissors
• clear nail polish
• velcro tape
• ruler and marker

1. Like the first choker, take your measurements and trace a pattern. This time trace it without the jeans seams (we dont need it for this style)

2. Frayed both sides of the denim evenly.

3. Use the scissors to trim the edges straight

4. Like the one above use a clear nail polish to seal the edges closed

5. Take your velcro tape and sew or glue them on both sides and your done
