It's summer again! And while hitting the beach for a much-needed vacation is always a great idea. This is also a perfect time to get crafty especially when it comes to sewing summer dresses for our dolls. I've already made plenty of outfits for my other dolls, so this time let's make something for my new doll, Mell chan.

Who is Mell Chan?
Mell Chan is a Japanese doll that was first introduced in 1992, and has been a beloved companion for children ever since. She's a sweet, adorable baby doll about 26 cm tall shorter than Barbie, who's about 175 cm (yes, thats what Mattel says!). As for me, I fell in love with her kawaii eyes and childlike features. She gives off a feeling of caring for a little sister—a gentle, nurturing vibe that's so different from my other fashion dolls. That's probably why Mell Chan is so popular with both mothers and children alike
Let's Make a Summer Dress
Now for Mell Chan's dress, I wanted something just as cute as she is, so I added a tiny collar around the neckline for a charming touch. You can watch how I made it on my YouTube channel—I actually made two styles of dresses that you can try.
Of course, adding a collar is totally optional. You can also keep it simple if you like, or decorate it with bows or beads. That's the fun part of sewing doll clothes, you can customize them however you want.
