Goodbye 2016.. and Hello 2017!! My new years resolution for this year is to blog here more often. I didn't do much last year (to my great disappointment) so this 2017 I will be making up for it. That said I wanted to share my last memories of 2016 in this blog post.
So this happens sometime in December, I was looking for something to wear for our family gathering this Christmas when I found this.
It doesn't even have a zipper anymore |
This is an old dress I received while searching for my prom dress way back in high school. I didn't like it so I just kept it and leave it forgotten for all of eternity (or at least until someone found it). Fast forward to now, and I still don't like it. But fear not 'cause I will save this dress just in time for the holidays.
Smooth and shiny |
The only thing I like about this dress is the fabric, perfect for the kind of slip dress I have in mind. But first,I need to get rid of those sleeves
also the shoulders.. |
I searched the net for a reference since I don't own no slip dress (for now) and started making a pattern.
just making it up as I go |
For the back, I pinned down the open zipper then started tracing a straight line along it.
like this.. |
I cut the pattern off, leaving just the right allowance and pinned it on the inside to hide the edges
and sew.. |
Its almost 1 am and I was just tired at this point to bother for a pic so I will just tell you how I did it. I sewed all the pinned parts above, leaving 4 little gaps for the strap of the dress.
I made 2 long strips with a width of 2 inches and a half. Fold them then sew to make the straps. I made it from a different fabric since the leftover scraps was too short.
or was it 3 inches? |
I attached it to the dress and tadah!!
it looks like a slip dress now |
I ironed it too for a better look. You can see I closed the zipper part at the back
So cute ♡(ŐωŐ人) |
This right here is my best creation so far, its looks cute and simple to make. Definitely one of my faves! ^^
great way to end the year ^^ |
Definitely look forward for more refashion this year and more!!
Thanks for reading
