From a Cute Dress to a Chic Tank Top

Long time no see (=A=)/

I've been guilty of not posting much here for quite a while. One of the main reason for that aside from a busy schedule was, last summer, I got a present from my mom. A sewing machine I have been dreaming of since forever and basically for months I've been preoccupied with nothing but sewing all kinds of things. And one of them is this.

I wanted to refashion this blue green? one shoulder dress I got from my aunt. Its a cute dress, I especially like the color and how it complements well with the black flowery lace. Unfortunately, its too short for me and one shoulder style isn't my cup of tea, so the dress have to go.

The color reminds me of what Miku Hatsune will wear hehe ^^
Since the only problem I have with this dress is the style, I decided to transform it to a tank top. I first undo all the stitches at the top, careful not to ruin the lace. I didn't touch the bottom part because it looks perfect already and will look great later on.

I took my favorite tank top and trace its front and back on the dress. I choose a sporty looking top to spice up the classy look of the dress since I am for the sporty but sophisticated look

I'm a genius I know \| ̄ヘ ̄|/
After tracing, I cut it and pin the raw edges in the front since the black lace will be hiding it away anyway and sew them together.

Oopsie: I was a bit excited tracing and cutting the dress I didn't notice I trace the wrong pattern for the back until it was too late. I ended up with the same pattern in the front and back of the dress

So much for the sporty look ( ;´A`)

Despite this predicament, it was still manageable. So I shrug it off and did the same for the lace part except the edges were sewn at the back. I sew the lace and the inner lining together again and finally connected the shoulders. Turn it upside down and poof!! You have your a tank top.

Connect them again

From a cute dress to a tank top. As you guys can see, I didn't alter it too much 'cause I wanted to keep the chic look from before.
