3 Barbie Wedding Dresses You Can Sew Without a Printed Pattern
Wedding bells are ringing for Barbie! Someone suggested I design a no-print pattern wedding dress for barbie, and given I made so many of these (you can check them here) I thought, why not! And not only did I take on the challenge, I went all out and made three different wedding gowns. All you can tailored for different types of Barbies. Whether your doll is Basic, Made to Move, Curvy, or the classic Silkstone Barbie, there's a gown here just for her 👗💖
MATERIALS:
- pencil and ruler
- bond paper
- scissors
- thin wire and pliers
- velcro
- needle and thread
- white fabric
- white lace or tulle
- beads
- pins
YOU CAN SEW THIS DRESS FOR:
✔ Curvy Barbie
✔ Superstar Barbie
1. The Classic Ballgown
Let's start simple! This one's an easy ballgown dress paired with a sweetheart neckline. Since we're drafting the pattern from scratch (no printouts here), I kept it beginner-friendly but still stylish and elegant. And whats more timeless than a princess-style wedding dress we all know and loved. If you're curious how I drafted and sewed it, you can check the video down below for the tutorial.
2. The Circle Skirt Twist
From a distance you can see it's high resemblance to the first dress, but there's one thing that change: the skirt. Instead of a gathered skirt, I switch things up with a circle skirt design. It's a subtle difference, but it completely transforms the dress into something more flowy and modern. Sometimes, its small tweaks like this that gives your doll a whole new look.

3. The Mermaid Silhoutte
For the last one, I went bold with a mermaid-style wedding dress. The fitted bodice and flared hem creates a glamorous, figure-hugging look, which looks perfect on a Curvy Barbie.
Of course I'm not saying it only looks good on her, you can also make this style of dress for other barbies too. It just takes a little adjustments and this will fit them like a glove. I think out of the three dress I made, this one was the most fun to make!

FINAL THOUGHTS
And that's the end of today's sewing challenge—three Barbie wedding gowns, no printed pattern required! The best part about this is that you can make all these for any Barbie you own and style it however you want. I enjoy making them all (especially the mermaid dress). But now it's your turn: if you could only sew one for Barbie, which style would you pick? Drop your thoughts in the comments, and who knows it might inspire my next project
Thanks for reading, Happy sewing!
